Choking while uphill.
2005 Grand Cherokee Laredo 3.7L 140,000 miles. I had noticed a sputtering/choking while going uphill. The next day it wouldn't start and had to be towed. I was told the fuel pump needed to be replaced and so had them replace it. Two days later, same symptoms are back (choking on acceleration especially going uphill).

Okay, my 2000 is doing the same thing and not setting a trouble code. In my case, a good high speed run cleans out the carbon and cures the stumble. I put a new head on my 4.0 so now there's more blowby because of worn rings. That blowby is oil vapor that gets sucked into the intake and builds carbon on the valves and pistons. I'm going to install an oil catch can in the CCV hose to try to stop most of it.
IDK much about your 3.7, but because it's high mileage, this could be your problem as well. Yours might have an actual PCV valve, but the problem is still possible.
Google or YouTube "oil catch can" and see what's going on with that. Guys with turbos are having lots of problems. Chrysler has a directive about carbon buildup in engines that operate under 2000 rpm constantly. Mine tachs out at 2100 at 70 mph! Are they telling us to wind it up more?
BTW, mine has 220K miles on it.
