Default why am i burning oil?

it does leak a little bit, smokes when running. cold or warmed up. i have heard that replacing gaskets can put pressure on warn parts, causing more damage... is this true? a rebuild is not possible right now or in the distant future

replacing gaskets will only help stop leaks. you did not say what engine you have. the V8s will smoke when idleing and often is caused by the plenum gasket leaking and allowing oil to be sucked into the cylinders and smoke like crazy. I had a 5.2 if you just let it sit idling after 10min you would think it started on fire.
How many miles on the jeep?

if thats the case and your smoking a lot when idling its a pretty good bet that plenum gasket is an issue. its a bit of job but not the worst.

@ 220k and smoking all the time you say? probably have some wear on the rings/seals. Doesn't mean your motor needs rebuilt per say but it won't get any better either

i only have driveway poser shots right now...heres one. I would have just painted my stock wheels too but i needed a little less backspacing with these tires.
