vk1: I hope it is. Let us know if it is. I guess it's not impossible to get a bad coil off the shelf.

Well, that didn't fix the problem, the damn thing stalled on me three times yesterday on my way home from work, once while it was idling, once while i was accelerating, and once while i was stopping at a stop sign, but it fired right back up each time.

Ya well, thats exactly what mine did until it ceased to restart. Mechanic #2 said that when he "tapped" on the PCM, it would start again. Mine is sitting at the $tealership as I write this, awaiting a PCM transplant. Maybe today, maybe tomorrow, I'll find out what the story is.

Unfortunately, it looks like that's the direction I'm heading in now.

Well, I got my Jeep back today with a manufactured MOPAR PCM, installed and programmed by the local Jeep/Dodge dealer. Interesting turn of events. It appears that the PCM that was in the Jeep was not original. I was one of those "re-manufactured" by Auto Computer Exchange. Thats one of those fly-by-night outfits in Florida that the local BBB and YELP has a long record on from unhappy customers. And not even a year old. Appearance wise it did not look like the replacement from MOPAR. I know someone had asked the question about how these places get through the gel that the PCM components are encased in to do a repair. In this case, they just peeled it out and just flopped it back when they were finished. The gel is actually pretty thin and came out in sections. If the function of the gel is to help absorb shock, it was totally useless for that function. Somebody paid $200 for this thing, It did not last a year and I inherited the problem when I bought the vehicle. It is disconcerting to me to have had to spend that kind of money on a vehicle with a resale value of perhaps only several thousand dollars at most.
It was quite a bit more expensive than dealing with this internet company. It does come with 2 year warranty and only time will tell. My appreciation to all who took notice of my dilemma and offered advice. I am hoping that someone can benefit from this experience and its easier on them than it was on me.

NO ****! I'm not even kidding, i was just about to order one from them because i live in Florida and i figured that it wouldn't take long to get to me, and at the price they're asking i didn't want to pass it up, upon further inspection the PCM that's in my jeep now came from the junkyard, i was so pissed i had to laugh at it.

I posted these farther up on page 2. I suggest looking at them.

You might be better off since you live in Florida and go to there place and get in their face if they rip you off. I wouldn't deal with them after reading these. There is another company out of N.Y." Flagship 1". You may want to check them out. I couldn't find much good or bad about them. Have you priced one from you local friendly Jeep dealer? Does your have to be programmed before you can use it?

vk1: i am sitting here on the edge of my seat waiting to hear what you did! Only kidding. But once you figure it out, let me know. Yesterday whilst poking around on the net I found a Authorized MOPAR Parts site. I saw the PCM I just bought for $795 on sale for $550. I could have bought it. Installed it myself and had it towed to the dealer for programming. I could have saved a few hundred bucks. Anyway. Let us know when this is resolved.

Well, I replaced the PCM today. The pins in the old one where the wiring harness plugs into, had some corrosion. I can see how this could be a problem. I got it all back together, and it started right up. It's running good, and so far it hasn't stalled, or sputtered. I haven't driven very far yet, but so far so good. Time will tell.

Where did you get the PCM from?
Mine has been going great since I replaced it.

I ordered it from Flagship 1. They got it to me when they said they would, and it plugged right in like they said. I didn't have to get it programmed, it worked great. So far, it's doing good.

Having been trough this once. That is likely where I'd get my next one if I needed it. Lets us know how it holds up. I am curious. The one they took out of my WJ had been there less than a year. It was from that one place in Florida. You were smart not to go there for it. Do you mind if I ask how much it was?

It was regularly $299, but was on sale for $230. With $16 shipping, I paid $247.15
