Transmission Band Adjustment
Hi
At some point soon I am going to change my trans filter and oil, Should I adjust the bands aswell? What difference will adjusting the bands make and if I do it myself will I damage anything in the transmission? Any tips welcome
Thanks Guys

the only reason I was thinking of doing it is because I am going to change filter and fluid soon and thought it could be done when the pan was off.how often do bands need to be adjusted. I dont know when this was last done. What difference does adjusting the bands make? I have a repair manual and could do it but I dont know if they need adjusting or not and like you say best to leave transmissions alone if no maintenance is needed. but she is definetly due an oil and filter change.

I would not adjust the bands unless something is wrong. It will cause some MAJOR issues if done wrong or was done and not needed. You should be just fine with a filter and fluid change.

I know the WJ 4.0 transmission has bands that need to be adjusted. According to my manual, the only thing that needs to be done is 2 bolts need to be tightened or something and one of them is above the pan so that is why it is recomended to do this while the fluid and filter is being changed.
