It looks like your stock tire size is 225/75/r16 and according to this link you can fit 245/75/r16, but this was just the first refferance i could find to stock size.http://www.sizemytires.com/vehicle/2...grand-cherokee

285/75R17 are approx 34"x11.5 tire You would want probably 4" lift for those.

From everything I've read a stock suspension is about at its limits with a 31" tire, and some even rub with those. A 33" tire requires at least 3" of lift and even some fender trimming. A 34" tire will probably need 4-5 inches of lift and some creative modification of your wheel well openings.

I know two guys running that size tire. One on 5" of lift and he had to do quite a bit of bumper trimming and beating the fender wells out to fit them. The other has 6.5" of lift and only had to trim the bumper a little. So to answer your question, no, you cannot fit that size on a stock WJ. 245/75/R16 is as big as you can go on stock. 2" lift will fit 264/75/R16 with a little trimming.

I've got a 2001 Grand with 275/75 r16's (32.24" diameter) on right now (factory was 225/70r16). They rub and the vehicle handles like a hovercraft on the highway. Not the best 400 bucks I've ever spent. Think l'll have to compromise with 245/70's (29.5" diameter)

Unless you turn very infrequently, love driving hovercrafts, and an extra 2.75" of height is something you cannot live without, you might want to reconsider the 275/75r16's on your 2001.

All the best...

Could I fit 285/75/16 on a xj with a 4.5" lift with no wheel spacers?

On my 2004 WJ it came with P235/65R17's stock, if that tells you anything with the Up Country package.

My 00 WJ came with 245/70R16 tires and I tried my friend's 245/75R16's on the front. They rub at full lock on the fender liners. He has a 2" BB.
