Starter Toast???
Hey guys,
So i replaced my starter about a year ago this same time. I have had no problems and no hints at a problem since then. However today when i went to head back to work from the gym, she wouldn't start. Battery is fine, windows turn on, music... But it just doesn't roll over. No clicking sound, nothing just quiet and no start. It has been record breaking hot here in Denver the past few days with today being the hotest. I am not sure if that has anything to do with it. It does seem a little odd for it to just completley crap out after about a year and no warning signs... Your thoughts??

Check out your connections to your starter. There are two a pos+ and a neg-. Some times they come loose and you will get a no start. If that is not it try jumping it with a screwdriver by touching the pos and neg together if it doesnt click or try to turn over then your relay is more than likly out. It is right next to your battery box and a pretty cheap fix.

This is EXACTLY the same problem I just went thru.
Disconnect the POS lead from battery.
IF you need to jack up that corner of XJ...do it (some dont need jacking )
Take a 13mm box wrench and I believe its an 8mm (could be wrong)...
Just take a handful of small box-end wrenches with you.
You MAY find that the connections down there are oily/dirty.... A can of electrical contact cleaner (or brake cleaner if you are in a pinch).
Spray it up and clean it.
Tighten the connections.
DO NOT GO NUTS. Snug them up good. It is easy to overtighten them.
Reconnect the POS terminal..try starting it.
It may carry on if there is a few drops of cleaner left between the contacts. But that should clear up real quick.
