Default Need Help With Hills

My wife and I are moving down to Aiken SC from Harrisburg, PA and know that our route 81S to 77S to 20W is the way to go. Coming back this way we climb a very large hill 77S and now we are going to go back down the hill. Our Jeep is an 05 V8 HEMI. It has the special cool transmission where if I get tried on the road I can go from D to 4 then 3 then 2 and then 1st when starting off. It's 4 WD Drive all the time. On this trip going down the jeep will be towing a trailer behind it that I would say will weight no more than 2,000 lbs. So going down this hill I don't really care to burn out my brakes nor hurt the engine. So any suggestions out there on how to do this? Speed limit is 65 to 70 and I somewhat care to take it careful instead of being first. Thanks for the suggestion.

LOL you will be my neigbor, I live in elizabethtown pa. 20 min from harrisburg.

Maybe just shift out of over drive, into 3rd going down hill. I will save the brakes, and you wont over rev the engine either.

My advise to you is to take it easy on speed, turn your flashers on, and come out of OD. Shift down if nessesary to control speed and use your brakes occasionaly to control engine speed. Trailer brakes would help, but I doubt you will have that option. Engine braking with a fuel injected engine will not hurt it, but just keep the RPM's down. I wouldn't exceed 3000 at the most.

Good luck with the trip!
