I have made some more progress with my WJ and its shifting problem in the front end while driving....it seems the rebuilt gearbox that was purchased from AutoZone was crap. it steered the Jeep ok, but it seems that the bearings for the pitman arm shaft were really bad. I am including a pic to illustrate. With the bearings being bad, it was allowing lateral movement.

What I did was I ordered a used gearbox from ebay and when it was delivered I disassembled the pitman section of the gearbox and removed the seals and bearings. I then ordered the new seals and bearings and when they arrived I rebuilt the used steering gearbox, installed it in my WJ, and then returned my purchased gearbox for a full refund. I haven't had a problem with the shifting in the front end since. I also re-adjusted my caster to a lower setting so that I wouldn't have the death wobble re-occur. So, if anyone is having this problem in their WJ, tell them to check for loose components and also check to make sure that there is no lateral movement in their steering gearbox.

Love this. So besides the spacer did you have to do anything else for alignment issues. No problems with stock trac bar or extended brake lines.

My 99 WJ with 4" BDS, Fox 2.0 shocks, BDS adjustable track bar, BDS quick disconnects, 32x11.50's and Rubicon wheels with 1.5" spacers. JKS ACOS in works for retro fit to WJ. Build thread is here

This is how it looked when I first bought it back in July of last year.
