It needs to be re-set? You can scroll down the Menu and re-set the period for maintenance. It has several potions. Unless you already tried to do this.

When you get to distance to service, press and hold reset.

On the same subject though; what would cause the overhead display to take about 5 minutes to, well, display?
I have a black screen for a while, as though it needs to "warm up" before it tells me the temp and direction, and such.

In your 94? I'm not surprised. It's probably tired electronics; capacitors and such. After all, it's 22 years old. Take it apart and check the connections and clean it.
