Default New lift kit

was giving a stock 98 zj. I want to put a lift kit on it that is about 3.5 in so I can run 31 in under it. The main use of the zj is going to be a DD. I plan on use to go hunting and fishing. I don't plan on doing any hardcore off roading just maybe a little mudding every now and then. My budget is about $1600 for the lift and tires. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been doing research for about 3 days now and I am confused about all the kits that are out there. This is the first lift kit that I have bought and put on. Thanks

I would second the IRO selection.

I just ordered a 4.5 in with 5100 Bilstein shocks.

Andrew do you have that lift kit. I you do have you done any other suspension work to make it work right.

Adidas. How dou you like that lift. Have you had to change out the front drive shaft. And have you had to do any other suspension work to make it work.

I have not put the kit on. I did pick up the IRO 4.5 premium kit. Comes with just about everything you would need. However, I do plan on changing out my front CV Razza style driveshaft to the ujoint style. And I will be going with the steel braded extended brake lines. Other than that, not much i for see needing to be done.

But When i start getting into it, maybe some bushing that are not part of the kit.

Also, the better question here would be, what do you intend on using the jeep for while off road... Less extreme will require less and less. You saying road warrior, a spacer kit would do it...

I went with the 4.5 to run around a 33in tire. I live in so cali and have a verity of trails that i like to run. From rocks to off camber areas etc. Plus the jeep is NOT my daily driver. I also skipped the shocks that come in the kit and went with the 5100 from bilsteins.

From reading what you have in the first post, you should be good with the IRO 3.5 benchmark kit. That still uses stock control arms without issues. Anything bigger, the control arms need to be adjustable. Plus with your budget of 1600 for tires and lift... Ima go 800 for tires/800 for lift kit. The IRO benchmark is 449. That would leave you about 300 for different shocks if you desire...
