Are they a neccesity or just a recommendation.
I need to change a head gasket My zj has almost 300k on it, so I don't want to put too much into the motor, I just want to make it last a bit longer so I can drive it while I save for an engine |

You should be able to re-use the original head bolts at least once. That being said, do you know they've never been re-used before? The heads never been off?
