Headers, Dodge fitment vs Jeep
Many more choices for 5.2L headers under Dodge than Jeep, as you know.
New to the forum, I would like to know why I could or could not pick up a set of aftermarket headers for a 94 Dodge 5.2L for my 94 ZJ.
Searched around, found stuff here and there but not a definite answer along the lines of that question.
Upgraded the cat-back, now I want to do this project!
Thanks much in advance!

Well, the Dodge vehicles with the 5.2 and 5.9 had larger engine compartments, and a lot more room. If you try to install most Dodge headers (If not all) on a ZJ, ( I have a 93 I'm having the same problem with) you will have issues with it not fitting because of the firewall, and possibly length issues.

Thank you for the reply, I appreciate it!
If anyone has been successful at adapting a Dodge header to the 5.2 Grand, any info would be great, or steer me to the thread that might already be in existence (but I haven't found to this point).

yea my dad has the 93 d100 with the 5.2 as well and looking at it now i could probably sleep in the engine compartment because of how much more space there is soo I'm putting my money on its probably unlikely you will be able to with out a lot of fabrication... but, if there is a will there is a way

There ain't a lot of room in a jeep on the driver's side because of the steering shaft and front driveshaft. The chassis was designed around the 4.0. and that's the reason the WJ is wider to fit the 4.7.

Dodge V8 manifolds have the collectors all the way at the rear. Jeep manifolds have the collector not quite all the way back. Yes it has to do with room, but even more has to do with the fact that the dodge starters are on the drivers side, and the jeep starter is on the passenger side. There is no interchangeability because the collector from the opposites will dump right into the starter. I just did a 5.9magnum/46re swap into my XJ from a dodge truck and couldn't use the jeep manifolds to save room unless I had a jeep transmission.

Unless your going long tube headers i would stick to the oem manifolds. Most shortie headers flow about the same as the oem manifolds do so no real gain with them besides looks. And the cheapo brand headers will warp at the header flange causing exhaust leaks.
