Get yourself a cheap OBD-II code reader... I recently got one off of eBay for $15 a few weeks ago... it works just as the code readers at the mechanic's shops do... you locate the OBD-II plug-in (the same port as they test your emissions with or read codes with at the mechanic's shop or dealer) that is under the dash on the driver's side, plug the code reader in, turn the ignition to 'On' (do NOT start the Jeep, just press the 'Start' button once without putting your foot on the brake), and the codes (even ones that don't trigger a 'Check Engine' light but are still stored in the Jeep's computer) will show up on the code reader's display.
Here is what I got, it's recommended: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Autel...cAAOSw4UtWRTSp
You can then look-up the codes online and they'll tell you what they may mean.
You might also try pressing the 'Start' button (without putting your foot on the brake) 3-5 times, from 'Off' to 'On', but NOT starting the engine, and see if it's the same as turning a key to activate the code check. I'm not for sure it'll work for the push-button, but the process of cycling the ignition for a code check works for '99-'10 Grand Cherokees.
Hope this helps,
Vince
