grand cherokee battery drain

grand cherokee battery drain
Well finally bought me a jeep, a grand cherokee 2.7 crd from 2002, a really nice to drive 4x4. Bought it in holland an d drove it to the South of France a few days later, however within one week I had some issues. First air came into the dieselline and had to be purged, a minor inconvenience, but still dont know how that got there in the first place.
Now for the real issue, the battery drains real fast, took an amps meter (serial between neg car and neg battery) and discovered the following;
the drain is 1.92 A this results in a dead battery overnight
started pulling fuses
when I pull the radiofuse from under the dash and from under the Hood the ignition/starter (no.8) and no.12 and 15 labelled as JB both 50A the drain becomes 10 mA which is normal and doesnt impair starting for weeks or more
now some different combinations
radio out drain 1.01 A
radio out and no 12 and 15 out drain 0.5 A
radio out and no 8 out drain 80 mA
no 8 out drain 0.81 A
no 12 out drain 0.99 A
no 15 out drain 1.5 A
no 12 and 15 both out drain 0.5 A
no 8, 12 and 15 out drain 10 mA (radio through no 8)
Can turn on radio with ignition off and keys out of ignition seems wrong to me.
Any thoughts on this problem are welcome, also what does JB stand for, I have no booklet of this car but will try to get one. If more info is needed I wil provide,

Old fart with a wrench
I'm thinking aftermarket radio with a booster amplifier that doesn't turn off. Someone also mentioned to not use the dimmer wire with aftermarket radios. The dash lighting is hot all the time.

the radio is stock, all original, but previous owner did (after phonecall) admit to have tinkered around the electrical circuit

And therein lies the rub. What "tinkering" did he do?
Just for grins, disconnect the alternator and check the drain. Sometimes a bad diode in the rectifier bridge inside the alternator will cause a drain when the engine and ignition are off. This will only show up as a reduced current output.

thanks for all the input, problem solved, seemed to be a worn ignition, now down to 60mA drain. This is a bit on the high side but within limits.
However the story continues on an other field.
Sometimes when driving away the automatic gearbox stays in 1st and the engine alert sign stays on, if I pull over and restart the gear problem is usually gone and the alert sign turns of after a minute or so. It does not matter if the engine is warm or cold, it can happen after a 30 minute drive and a 5 minute stop, or after a cold start in the morning.

I have a wj 2000 3.1td which I'm having nearly the same problems. My battery dies overnight.
When I have an amp meter hooked up, the car is drawing 1.25a with everything closed and locked etc. I left it for 3 hours to make sure the computers had shut down, but still drawing off 1.25a
The only thing that seems to reduce it is when I pull a fuse labeled 'ign/starter'. The current will then drop to 0.3a (which I know is still very high, but at least it's a step in the right direction!!)
I've checked the wiring in the door post inside the rubber gromet, and it appears to be healthy, although I can't see the 'orange with white stripe' wire that seems to be mentioned a lot?
