gear slippage while turning left
I have a 2003 jeep grand cherokee laredo 4x4 auto trans. when making a left turn from a complete stop it seems to slip out of gear while shifting ito second. after a second it will pop back into second and jerk a little from it popping back into gear. not sure if it is the rear end or the transmission. transmission fluid looked fine. it only does it on left turns, not on right turns and it has never done it while going straight.................please help..............

a bit more info would be good. I am assuming this is a standard tranmission. If so the first thing that comes to my mind if its actually doing this because your turning is maybe a bad tranny mount or even motor mount and there is more movement with the left hand turn and it pulls the linkage. Other then that you will have give more info on the type of vehicle and what mods if any are done to it.

it sounds like a trip to the tranny shop, but I suppose in some strange way it could still be the torque of the engine if it happened to affect the kick down linkage. But if it was doing that I would say it still has a lot of issues.

I agree here. My grandma had a truck that did the same only it was turning right. Check all mounts and if everything good. I would try replacing the fluid and if not that I would take it into a shop.

i checked the fluid again and noticed that it might be a little low. then i thought about a ford explorer i used to own. the explorer would slip out of gear at stop signs. it was also low, when i added fluid it stopped. so i added a quart to the jeep. drove it last night and tried to make it slip but it didn't. i will try it agai today. hopefully the $4.00 i spent on fluid fixed it.lol

good to hear that it could be something as simple as low or worn fluid, followed by new filter....cheap and fairly easy....reading these threads have answered most if not all my questions from time to time, i'm not sure how to post a thread....my question is what type of fluid should i run in my 94 limited zj...it calls for dextron ii....i use a type that covers dextron i,dextron ii,dextron iii....does it need to be specifically dextron ii to prevent minimal trans slips that occurs when my tranny heats up in warmer months.....doesn't do it during these canadian winter months mind you....any help?? sorry for thread bogart...how to make new thread advice welcome.
