I have not saw the complete list of all the buybacks yet but it goes back a ways on Jeeps also and the Ram trucks 500,000 units. Several units and models for various reasons from airbags to other things.

Doesn't include XJs cause there's no reason for it to. This has to do with recent recalls. Like the gas tank issue with ZJs.
And I don't even know if it covers people that already had issue fixed. Bottom line if you like your car. Drive it. All this recall crap with the feds is getting annoying fast.

If you haven't had the recall done .. Do it. I work at a Chrysler dealership and they give you a $100 visa gift card when you get the recall for the hitch done.

Must be out of the goodness of their heart
Known about since 1993.........and most never received a recall. I saw that the must do Ram truck buy-back could cost them close to 3 billion. That's a real blow to anyone's bottom line I hope the Fiat model line made a lot of money.

Yeah, right! That was a year ago. When I called him about it, he said he hadn't gotten the heat shield yet, but he wanted to do them all the same time. I just blew it off as a bad idea. A trailer hitch wasn't part of the recall.

Well that would be your dealership. The recall goes from 93 to 04 Grand Cherokees and I believe it's 03 to 07 libertys.

Well, as I've said, this was a year ago. They probably weren't being pressured into dealing with it. I was about ready to go to U-haul for a hitch, but I think I'll check with the dealer again before hand. I need a rear recovery point anyhow.

Exactly what I was thinking. Got my ZJ stuck in the mud once and saw that there was absolutely no recovery points in the rear, and that the fuel tank is completely unprotected.
I've been reading up a little bit on the Grand Cherokee/Liberty recall, and the dealer is supposed to inspect to make sure your Jeep is "Structurally capable" of having a hitch mounted, before actually mounting one.
I'm going to call Chryslers "recall specialists " to try and get this set up through my local dealer, as I am in need of a hitch anyway.

The wj is worse on gas tank protection then the zj.Next time you see the back of a wj the black box looking thing hanging down past the bumper is the gas tank. When they had to move the spare from the side to the floor they had to lower the gas tank for the spare hole.
