Default engine wont turn over

We had a problem yesterday where our gc would not start. The starter would crank but there was no fuel getting to the engine. I checked the injector harness with a noid-light set and got the steady flash. I also pressed the valve on the fuel rail and got no fuel. The weird thing is that when I was walking to my truck to go to school today I stopped and tried to start it. It coughed to life but was running rough. It eventually smoothed out enough so I could take it around the block. It is still not running normally..... any ideas?

When you turn the key to start, you should hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds. Listen in the fuel tank area. If you do not hear it, check your fuel pump relay. Also, attach a fuel pressure gauge and check for normal fuel pressure.

If you have a high mileage vehicle, you might clean the throttle body and attached components. The IAC controls idle and it is on the TB.

Try replaceing the fuel filter. If its been a while then no big deal cuz you needed to do it anyway.

On the 1997 the fuel filter is part of the fuel pump assembly.

there is no sound coming from the tank... the fuses are good, the relays are good <including the auto shutdown relay>, i just replaced the iac and it is still doing the same thing, I replaced the fuel filter a month or two ago, so it couldn't be that.
