Default Jeep missing while accelerating**UPDATED** QUESTIONS

Hey there everyone, need some help. I have a 2004 jeep GC laredo and its got right at 110000 miles on it. I am having issues With my Jeep while it is in Drive, park or reverse. This issue does not happen all the time and it is very random when it does happen, I will be driving along engine running fine and then all of a sudden my Jeep will start lurching and chugging and I have no acceleration. If it does this while at a light 50% of the time it will die. It always restarts right back up though. And for the odd part It will start doing this and then suddenly stop and drive fine for a little while and then start lurching again. somedays it does it the whole time I am driving it and other times it is hit or miss... I have had the map sensor and plugs changed as the dealership told me that was the problem however this did not fix the issue, I can put the jeep in neutral and I can not get it to recreate the issue however when the car is driving and I accelerate it will start. Also it gets worst as I go up hills. Can anyone help me out. as I am at a loss, there are no error codes and the engine light does not come on!

Please someone tell me I am not crazy.

Thanks to anyone who can assist.

I would venture a guess and say you have a sensor going bad. which one who knows. In my repair manual it described where most of the sensors where and how to test them. if you go and get one it may help you as well. with a 2004 you are going to have a lot of sensors so it would be more cost effective to check them rather than to throwing money at it.

Hmmm a sensor, I wish the dealer would have found it the first time it was in. I have had it at the dealership twice for this issue and each time because its not throwing any trouble codes all they can do is a driving diagnosis. which to say the least has not been sucessful. I have a haynes manual and you are correct I have too many sensors to even know where to start. I do know I just replaced the map sensor. One down!

Thanks for the Input.. has anyone else run into this kind of problem?

is your jeep still throwing the code? if so go to autozone and get the code read then post it back here, this way we will have a better idea and can drastically limit your solutions.

No it hasnt thrown a code in about 2 months. last code was saying the map sensor was bad. And nothing since then which is kinda wierd. I wonder if my cadilatic converter could have a piece busted off inside and it is blocking the exhaust. This morning coming in to work it ran great. but I would bet that on the trip home it does it again.

Did you get your problem fixed?

What motor do you have?

Sounds like a fuel issue.
How old is your filter? Pump, maybe?
