The vic comes out after you remove the center of the dash iirc but the coolant sensor is something that pops up on a lot of zj's supposedly right before i got mine they had replaced it and it was popping back up....but that place did royally screw me over....

Why are you removing the vic? If you already replaced the sensor it might be bad or you need to reset the vic. If this is the case, try removing the neg. on the battery and wait a couple minutes, then reconnect, this should reset it. Are you talking about the temp sending unit? Or the coolant sensor that is connected to the thermostat. The first one runs your gauge on dash (or light). The second one is easy to install, about 18.00 at AZ. The second one is a PITA.

i have changed the coolant sensor and the coolant level sensors and still had the fault. i had to take the vic out and place more solder on some of the pins which repaired and no more message.

Default Coolant Sensor Bad Fix

This error message is usually caused by a bad soldering joint between the plug and the circuit board inside the VIC, but it's an easy fix. All you need is a T10 torx bit, a phillips head screw driver, and a soldering iron. $9 soldering kit from radio shack worked like a champ. Here's step by step instructions:

I get the coolant sensor bad and washer sensor bad. The only one I really pay any attention to is to check the oil....
