Computer Problems
2000 Jeep GC Laredo. Computer (PCM) went bad (rotted out from NY salt) so I installed a (PCM) from another jeep, same year and model but no matter what I do the SKIM module wont communicate with the PCM. The jeep now starts instantly but only runs for 2 seconds then shuts off and the yellow security key displays on the instrument panel. The local Jeep dealer says you cant swap out computers, that I need to buy a new never programmed PCM and have them program it to the SKIM module and the ignition keys, but he says they are on national back order and he cant even get one till Feb 2012. Has anyone run into this problem? Anyone have any ideas? I need my Jeep and cant afford to be without a vehicle till Feb. Thanks, George.

Where do you get the PCM flashed? The dealer is telling me the SKIM module is reading the ignition key and sending a signal to the PCM and the PCM because it is from another vehicle, doesnt recognise the key so it shuts the vehicle down 2 seconds after its started. Is there any way I can just bypass all this security system crap and get my jeep to run? I dont care if the theft deterent system is immobile and never works again, I need my vehicle.

Heres an update for anyone thinking of getting a computer from Auto Electronic Solutions of Florida. After 2 weeks of promises AES overnighted a computer to my sons shop (he's ase certified mechanic for over 20 yrs) and it is not rebuilt or reprogrammed as their ad claims. It is simply a used computer out of a jeep that they packed up and shipped and my jeep still starts and runs for 2 seconds then quits just like it did before. The skim module and the remote start have all been disconnected previous to installing this computer that is supposed to work right out of the box. Well it doesnt. When my son called AES to complain they now changed their story and tell him the jeep must be towed to a dealer to have the computer flashed. Well the purpose of this whole AES rebuilt, reflashed computer was to eliminate having it towed to the dealer to be reflashed. AES is just a bunch of lying scam artists charging over $300 for a junk yard computer that they never rebuilt or reprogrammed. DO NOT buy anything from these people. After 2 weeks of dealing with them I am out $315, and back to square one. There really should be a law against people like this. I have filed a complaint with the Florida Attorney Generals office but I dont suspect it will do much good. I still have a jeep that dont run.

Caracticus Potts The Mod
The dealer or any repair shop that has the "pass thru" device can"reflash" your computer to solve the issue......it can be done, but it sounds like the place you went too only wants to make a buck
