I have a 95 grand and I am loosing brake fluid, I thought it was leaking from my abs pump, so i Sealed it and thats not the leak.

If the master cylinder has a internal leak, where would the brake fluid go?

There was a wet spot in the drive way, but when i put the jeep in the garage, there were no obvious signs of a leak.

Its a very slow leak and I have had a soft pedal for awhile now.

So i am thinking a bad master cylinder but i wanted to get other opinions

Check the hoses, calipers, and hard lines for leaks. The master can leak out the back into the booster.

A '97 cherokee with spots in the driveway!?? There's a new one Are you sure the spot was brake fluid? Why assume the worst, when did you last inspect your rear brakes? Yes.. They DO have rear brakes. When they are worn excessively, brake juice can leak by the wheel cylinder seals. I'd look there. If it was leaking out your ABS or MC, I think you'd see traces of it on those componants, and if it was leaking internally, you wouldn't have spots on yer driveway wouldja? Just my $0.02

A 95 has rear disc brakes, so no wheel cylinders .

Thanks but if you read my post its a 95 grand cherokee, and yes the fluid in the driveway was brake fluid. I know what brake fluid looks like and feels like.

As for the rear brakes they are DISK brakes, and how do i know I'm leaking brake fluid, My master cylinder is out of Brake Fluid.

If it is leaking inside the master cylinder which I have heard they do, where does the fluid go??

if it's leaking inside the master, it's going into the booster.

The master cylinder has o-rings that can go bad, leaking fluid into the brake booster. This could explain your loss of fluid and soft pedal.

Ok I took the master off and looked inside the brake booster and its try as a bone. So I went to the Junk yard and picked up a ABS pump, because there was all kinds of wetness under neath the ABS bump.

So when I put the lines back on, should I use any teflon tape on the treads for the brake lines?

One of the valves on the old ABS pump was leaking and i sealed it with jb weld, but I am thinking it was leaking from the bottom.

I will find out in a few, but the main question is about the threads on the lines if i should seal them with tape or something else just to be safe?

You should never use any tape/sealer on brake line fittings. It could disintegrate and possibly contaminate the system.

Never use teflon tape or any kind of sealer on brake lines. The flared ends on the steel lines is what seals them.

Glad you were okay. The stock brakes on them were a joke, that's why most of them are gone. That and rust.
Now people update with the bigger 4wheel discs from the mini van. It's called the SLH upgrade, to go with Goes Like Hell.
