Speed Proportional Steering - Worth adding?
'96 4.0 ZJ Laredo
I need a new power steering pump (one of the brackets is broken and I can't seem to get the air bubbles out to save my life), and probably some new gear components (steering wheel play that doesn't seem to be caused by anything else).
Looks like the parts that differ with SPS are:
Clockspring
Steering Column (mentions SBC, anyone know what that is?)
Sensor somewhere on the steering column
Pump
Some controller somewhere
A few wires
Overall, not to bad. Definitely doable. When it's too cold to ride I put on a few hundred freeway miles a week in addition to several 500+ mile trips every year, so improvements there would be appreciated.
Wondering if it is an improvement or not though. Looks like Jeep didn't keep it around for long, and I have heard some people don't like how it changes steering.
Thanks for any thoughts!
