There is a waterless coolant that runs on no pressure in your system. I believe it's called Evans.

What ever is on sale. If it gets down to 32 degrees in your area, run a 50/50 mix. If it never gets that cold, then you can run 70% water and 30% coolant. A 70/30 mix will transfer heat faster and let the engine run cooler.

Cool antifreeze/coolant

Hello, I am the technical manager at Prestone. It really does matter because all coolant is not created equal. Most of the lower priced coolant in the market is old technology "silicated" coolant. It works fine as long as you flush and refill every two years. The best technology and something that Jeep, Ford and many other automakers have adopted is called OAT or Organic Acid Technology. You will find this in prestone extended life coolant. All antifreeze coolant is 92-97% ethelyne glycol. It is the corrosion inhibitors that make the difference between the good stuff and not so good. Yes it does cost more than the old style coolant but reality is it costs less becuase it is good for 5 years or 150k miles, whichever comes first. If you send me an email to jay.buckley@honeywell.com, I can send you a pdf file that explains this in great detail. It is too big of a file to post here.

Whatever is on sale is right. Coolant is one of those things that if it is the right kind for you're car, brand and cost means nothing.

I ended up buying 50/50 Preston at Walmart.

I am using PRESTONE AF2000 EXTENDED LIFE ANTIFREEZE . You would be hard pressed to find any better antifreeze products in the industry than those made by Prestone. The company name is so strong when it comes to coolant for your vehicle that the name itself is almost synonymous with antifreeze. This is a great product that will do a nice job cooling your engine even under the most extreme conditions . One of the best things about this product is how well it protects your cooling system from corrosion. With its built-in “cor-guard” technology it actually puts a protective layer of coating over you somewhat sensitive cooling system metals to keep them from breaking down under use.

The green kind, undiluted. Add distilled water to get your specific concentration. No orange Dex-Cool.
