Would a prefab roll cage like this be okay? or do you think it should have more support.

looks sturdy but personally i would do more maybe get the cage and add on to it i mean the cage needs a lot of cross support but that wouldn't be hard to do considering that it is a weld on you can weld on what ever extra you want

Curt LeDuc used to run a GC in the trophy truck or class 8 in SCORE competition. it was a BA looking truck. also Don-a-Vee used to run jeeps in the more stock classes. http://pix.race-dezert.com/albums/0000_old_school/normal_Curt_1.jpg

GPS. It will take alot of research because there are probley alot of little things that you would have to change. I do not know what the rules on cooling is but that my need to be changed for how hot it will be. For the tires i would go with the BFG Baja T/As.

I don't think they would allow any sort of lift kit. I believe that would be considered a suspension modification and not allowed in the stock class. Looks like the only suspension mod allowed would be shocks.

You better add in some very very expensive reservoir type shocks like King or Fox. About $1400 for four of em. Anything less would probably blow out after the first 10 miles.

A little exerpt from an article.

"In this class it's mainly only safety items that are mandated. Stock style suspension (with reservoir shocks) are all that's allowed. These aren't the high flying, soft landing, 800 plus megamonsters blasting down the peninsula. These Stock classes are more old school, run what ya brung."

Well that saves some money...are those shocks worth while or no?
and 30x9.5 inch tires are the biggest you can get on a stock grand right?

I can't say as I've never ridden in a regular 4X4 with them. My buddies run the long travel sand cars use them and it's phenomenal how well they work for the dunes.

Soft as can be, but it's a whole different deal on these cars. They've got like 20+ inches of suspension travel. I believe the idea of the reservoir is it gives you more fluid volume and gives the fluid another place to go and cool off some. The reservoirs are typically finned like an air cooled motorcycle cylinder head.

Yeah stop shocks will prob brake and will be the worst ride in the world. Your back will be begging for mercy at the end. I see alot of people using the baja t/a in the 1000 and KOH. They work great in both sand and the rocks. There are prob better ones out there but they are vary good tires.

You wil have to go with air shocks or coilovers. I would go with the coilovers for this. You can go with Fox or King. Alot of my buddys run FOAs but they are air shocks. You would have to go with a coilover.
