Default Harmonic Balancer Repair

Since the balancer for a 5.2 is really difficult to find, has anyone attempted to use the balancer repair kit that most auto parts stores sell? I'm pretty sure my vibration at 1k to 1,500 rpms is partly due to a bad balancer, and I can see the rubber in the balancer starting to crack and fall out of the existing unit. I searched and couldn't find anything.

Thanks,
Andy

If I had the 4.0, that would be great. Alas, I have the 5.2

BTW I think the balancer repair kit your talking about is for the sealing surface are of the balancer. In time the front crankshaft seal will wear a groove in the balancer causing an oil leak, the repair kit/sleeve is for that. For what you mentioned I see no other way to repair it other than replacement.

That's what I was thinking, too. I figure an $80 output is worth it, and a couple local dealers have one in stock. Just got to sell off a couple other parts.

Thanks,
Andy
