Is there a normal interval for replacing injectors? 3 of the 8 on my 01 WJ 4.7 have been replaced already and wondering if I should do them all at once, or just the o ring. Thanks

I don't know how YOU feel about it, but my 00 WJ 4.0 has 192K on the originals and still runs strong and gets me the fuel mileage you would expect from a 4.0. I've used Seafoam in the fuel tank twice in the last 50K.

My WJ has 170k on the clock, bone stock original motor. Im going to replace the fuel filter tomorrow, and clean out the aic and see if that helps my idle issue. I know it could be plugs, or vacuum leaks as well.

You can get a whole 4 hole set off ebay for ~$90 with a warranty. I just did mine on my XJ.

It turned out that my entire issue was the aic was frozen. 1/2 a can of carb cleaner, 10 q-tips, cleaned the aic, throttle body, and now its for a rock solid 650 idle and doesn't want to die after going for a jaunt and coming to an idle. The smaller things....

I recently bought a 1994 ZJ with the 5.2 and QuadraTrac. It is very clean and the original owner, an older gentleman provided a folder with every receipt for everything he has ever done including oil changes.
It was running great and all was well. Now, it will only start in Neutral and runs rough when it does start.
One of the last receipts for repairs, completed a couple weeks before I bought it, was $380 for a fuel system problem. Unfortunately there are no details of what they fixed. The shop that performed the repair is out of business. I called the old man and he does not want to help but did say that there was some sort of vent that needed to be replaced either on the fuel tank or above it as the fuel pump was sucking so hard the tank was starting to collapse in on itself.
Does any of that make sense? I do not know where to start. I did not pay all that much for the Jeep and fell in love with it as it was obviously well maintained and was exceptionally clean.
I hope i did not get in over my head.

If that's what the problem is, it's easy to fix and simple to prove. Just loosen the gas cap and see if it runs better. If so, you know there is a venting problem. I'd look at the carbon canister purge valve to see if it's sucking vacuum all the time. With the engine running, loosen the gas cap. You should hear a "whoosh" of air entering the tank if it's being sucked by the engine.
As fuel is drawn out of the tank, air must replace it. It does so thru the carbon canister. When the engine is shut off, a valve closes preventing fuel vapors from leaking out. Any vapor that condenses in the canister is sucked out on engine start-up by the purge valve. I'd say either the purge valve is stuck open or the air filter in the bottom of the canister is plugged. Just a guess.

Great advice. Now that I heard you metion it, I remember that the old man mentioned either the carbon canister purge valve or the canister being what needed to be fixed prior to him selling it to me. Do you have to drop the tank to fix or replace either or those items?
Anyway, I think the starting in neutral was just dumb luck as after some trouble shooting tests, i was able to start the Jeep in both park and neutral with some persistence. When it started it ran real rough and blew pure white smoke out of the exhaust. I was about to cry be cause that is never good. I came in the house, checked for a reply to my post and you said gas cap.
I went back out there and opened the fuel door and there was no gas cap on the truck at all! I think the my 16 year old son left it at the gas station on his first fill up.
I put a gas cap on it and there were no changes at first. Same hard to start, same running rough and same white smoke. I decided to take it around the block a few times. After about a mile, it started purring like a kitten again and there was no smoke.
Could the lack of a gas cap really cause the symptoms i experienced or i am just experiencing intermittend symptoms of a larger problem?
sorry for the novel. any help is welcome.

The carbon canister is under the hood, usually mounted on the left side inner fender. The purge valve is either on top of it or next to it. It has an electrical plug in it and 2 hoses. one comes from the canister and one goes to the intake manifold.
The white smoke has me a little worried. It could just be oil the leaked down the valve stems from sitting, but it also could be coolant from a bad head gasket. Watch your coolant level for a while and see if you're using a lot. The 5.2 has a "plenum" gasket underneath the intake manifold that tends to leak and cause rough idling and oil consumption.
You say it started running good after a while. Let's see if that continues.

What is a normal oil pressure? If I'm not mistaken on the dash it shows the oil gauge pressure and the coolant temperature, right?
Anyway the oil always sits somewhere between 4 and 6. Is that the way it should be?
The temp stays consistently around 210.
