Grand Cherokee Ask the Question Thread
#166
I have a 2007 Grand Cherokee, 3.7L V6. I recently replaced the wheel hub on my front right driver side because the old one was bad. I have also had a check engine light issue. After replacing the hub (probably about a week later) I also had the abs, esp bas and traction control lights cme on. Also my cruise control stopped working. I had one shop tell me it the check engine light was P0507- since there is not idle control module in my Jeep that it was probably the throttle body. He said this could also be the cause of my other lights too. I bought and installed the replacement. The cruise control is now working. I know I need to wait for the computer to reset for the check engine light to go off. But any ideas on the other lights? Is he correct?

^ could be a wheel speed sensor for why your dash lights are coming on. I think on some the sensor is integrated with the hub assembly? Try cleaning the throttle body and see if that helps the idle. Those are my only 2 simple ideas.
I gots a quick question too. What's this tube sticking out!?

What are the sensors called that attach to the fuel injectors? I noticed one of mine is broken its just the two wires they have connected to the tips instead of the whole box. Is it hard to change one of those? or do i have to change the whole wire set? did i make sense? lol

Old fart with a wrench
The fuel injectors only have 2 wires attached to them, one is power and the other is ground thru the PCM. When the PCM switches an injector to ground, the injector delivers fuel. Fuel trim is created by how long the injector is cycled on. Those connectors can be replaced by splicing a new one in.

Sigh, never ends with this jeep . But im not giving up. Heres the latest issue. Changing the exhaust manifold and it turns out the two bolts that hold it on are both broken inside my engine head. I can try to get someone to tap them out but if i decide to leave them be will it be sound to drive like that? Basically it was being driven that way. Who knows how long. Thanks

They will leak exhaust gasses if left broken. They will probably come out easily with an EZout after you drill a small hole in them. They aren't bottomed in the thread, they were stopped by the end of the thread at the top. The rear one will be a problem because there's no room to drill it unless you take the head off. They aren't the only 2 holding the manifold on either. The rest hold BOTH manifolds on.

Major problems for a long time
2002 Grand Cherokee Limited, 4.7L no mods. This jeep died after hitting a bump in the road about 1 year ago, yes 1 year ago. It has been in the shop ever since. Had a rollback take to my regular mechanic and it started when the rollback dumped it. It ran for a couple of days afterwards, and that was it. Now the dash gauges are dead, the engine cranks over but will not start, and OBDII cannot communicate with the ecm.
Next had it towed to the dealership from the previous shop. The dealer said they reflashed the ecm and nothing has changed, still no communication, No dash gauges, still will not run. About 4 days before it was towed to the dealer, the head lights came on, the wipers came on, and the horn started blowing, had to unhook the battery before this would stop. The dealer is stumped and on the phone daily with Chrysler daily trying to see what to check next. Thsi thing is driving me crazy!!!

95 zj from the Wisconsin rustbelt. I just purchased this gem and every piece of brake system from the abs to the rear bumper is gone.the rear line was cut and crimped and even the p block/splitter on the axle is gone. Ive searched high and low to find a diagram and had no luck I know its3/16 line and can figure out the rubber, but i recall a bracket on the drivers side that i dont see and if i remember right there was hard line to rubber before the axle. I haven't been under one in 6 years any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well I'm new here and happen to have two wj's, one is a 2000 with the 4.0 and the other is a 2000 with the 4.7 have a stupid question about the center console lid...noticed on the 4.7 there is a couple odd things on the underside...looks like something is supposed to clip into one spot and the other sorta has a slit like maybe a tissue holder....I'm lost and can't find why these things are there. Not sure if the 4.0 has the same as that's at my job. Haven't messed with that too much as of yet.
