Default Advice Please

Hello ,
I am new to this site so hopefully I am not posting in the wrong area. Already having problems with posting it seems. I can post but for some reason I cannot post a Trannie in the "for sale" section.

ANYWAY ! What I need advice on is on the Transmission I bought . After looking up the numbers I found on it,i believe it to be a 42RLE. I pulled it from a 05 Dodge Dakota AWD. After I got it home (300 miles) I found that it would not fit my 04 GC 4x4
I want to sell this thing as fast as I can. Every time I walk into my garage I see the fruits of my labor (300 mile trip and 500.00) sitting there mocking me!

Do anybody know if a 42RLE was EVER used in any jeep EVER ? If it was I MIGHT be able to present a argument to my wife that "It COULD have worked BUT it was for the WRONG MODEL !" That sounds a lot better than "The transmission will not fit because it was NEVER made for a Jeep !"
Any Help ?

Jeep liberty ran a modified version....The 42LE was modified in 2003 as the 42RLE, originally for the then-new Jeep Liberty. It is a 42LE transaxle, modified for use in rear-wheel drive vehicles by removing the integral differential and transfer chain. Power flow exits the rear of the transmission. The case has also been modified. By design it has full electronic shift control with adaptive memory to learn the operator's driving habits controlled by the vehicle's Transmission Control Module (TCM). Contained within the automatic's torque converter is an Electronically Modulated Converter Clutch(EMCC) designed act as a shock absorber for harsh shifting.

Gear Ratios for the 42RLE:

1st: 2.80
2nd: 1.55.
3rd: 1.00
4th: 0.69
Applications:

42RLE
2005–2010 Chrysler 300
2006–2010 Dodge Charger
2004–2011 Dodge Dakota
2004-2009 Dodge Durango
2005-2008 Dodge Magnum
2007–2011 Dodge Nitro
2003–2013 Jeep Liberty
2003–2011 Jeep Wrangler
2009 Dodge Challenger V6
2003-2012 Dodge Ram

Come to think of it. It is a weird looking Transmission. All I got to say is it was very, very dark when I bought it! That's my story and i'm sticking to it !
