AC works but the clutch never disengages
Hello all,
I just bough a 95 Grand Cherokee, the air conditioning works, but I noticed the compressor clutch never disengages unless I turn the air off or pull one of the pressure switch harnesses off. My pressures are good at 75 low side and 200 high side and I get 56 degree air blowing in the cabin. I replaced the cycling switch on the accumulator but that did not help. I do not want to burn out the A/C clutch. Does anyone have a recommendation where to look next or what ot try next?
Thank you in advance
Scott

Scott.....your readings don't jive. On a 80 degree day you should have 35 lbs on the low side and 160-175 on the high side. With 134a refrigerent temp and pressure are almost the same. Sooooo for example
on the low side 75 lbs would be about 75 degrees at the center dash vent and 200 lbs would be 200 degrees at the condensor. With low side readings this high I would suspect low refrigerent, but because it is not cycling you may have an overcharged system and the compressure stays running but can't cool as well.
