97 Laredo Neutral Starter Switch
Hey all,
Recently my 97 Grand Cherokee Laredo stopped starting (but it still starts with the screwdriver trick), and my dad and I have tried pretty much everything and we've moved on to the start switch. However, the problem that we have has been finding the thing. All of the pictures that we've seen online (most from this forum) do not look like anything that I have in my Jeep. We are unable to find the connector, the switch itself, or any wires related to it.
I was wondering if anybody could post pictures as a guide to help us find it, so that we can bypass it to test it, replace it, and hopefully get my Jeep started again.
Thank you very much!

Old fart with a wrench
IDK about the 97, but the newer ones have a plunger switch screwed into the transmission just behind the shift cable. It also controls the reverse lights.

It's toward the rear of the transmission right above the pan on the left side. It's a three wire connector and it takes a one inch socket to remove it. Be sure to jack the left side of the vehicle up so you don't lose a bunch of ATF when you screw the switch out.
