Default 97 Grand making odd noise

So a little back story, I have a 97 Grand that I've had for over 2 years now. She's got 180,000 miles and still runs strong. It's lifted about 2in in the front with pucks. I just never got around to doing more, and personally I like the look better than putting the other two pucks in the back. Recently I've got a noise coming from the front end, it's a popping type noise. It's only a single pop. It only happens when I hit a big bump or when I'm starting from a stop/coming to a stop. It's only when the Jeep seems to be settling back or forward (if you know what I'm talking about). I recently had a lot of work done by a trust mechanic friend over the summer to replace some stuff down there. I'm not quite able to pin down the point of origin, nor do I have the extra funds to run it by a shop. It has gotten progressively worse as well.

Check the upper control arm bushings at the axle.

The control arms are one of the parts that were recently replaced. I will still check them though.

Busted's right. If the bolts are loose, they will egg-shape the mounting holes.

Busted's?? Sorry I'm not much of a car mechanic so which bolts are you talking about and where?

You replaced the upper arms, but did you replace the bushings on the axle?

They don't look new. But then again the work to the front end was done on October 15th. It has a new trailing arm. Two new tie rod ends and two new control arms. I'm assuming when the control arms were replaced that the bushings were as well. Again all these new parts were done in October.

So after reading some more stuff on the bushings, I tested some thinks like applying some lube or such on the bushings to test the noise and it didn't help at all. So I'm back to square one

I found one of my hood stop bumpers in between the battery tray and the fender today, ....must have come off last week as I was working. That made quite a pop sometimes. Amazing what you can find with a strong work flashlight in a good shop. Also found my VSS sensor is leaking internally, again, and the front 02 sensor was chaffed right to the wire from rubbing on the front diff. cover.
