Default OEM tow hook bolts.

First time posting so first off, Hello from San Juan, PR.(USCG) recently got my zj and it had no towhooks or recovery points at all. so i got a set of used OEM ones. The thing is the bolts that hold the actual hooks to the brackets are missing and one of the sets of the two bolts with the clip that go out through the bottom by the radiator support are broken off. The Home depot here in PR doesnt have a great hardware selection, i can get the bolts for the hooks but i don't think there strong enough. Do i need grade 8? 10? And where could i get them. Online would be fine, Someone on the forum, maybe a stealership? Thanks in advance for the help.

You may have to go to an industrial supply house. They will have what you need and save you running around looking. They also sell bolts BY THE POUND. A lot cheaper than a hardware store.

I know San Juan has an industrial area, I worked for Pass & Seymour and we bought used molding machines from there. Just go to a company and ask where they buy their hardware.

You can get socket cap screws, ones that use allen wrenches, they are grade 12 or better by industrial standard. We used them on dragsters in suspension and motor mounts, never broke one, but broke the brackets! The only problem with them is the allen wrench socket is a close tolerance fit and after a little rust, you may have problems getting the wrench to fit. Also, the shoulder at the head is small so you might to use a washer to spread the load or a close tolerance hole.

I have seen, with me own eyes, a 1/4x20 socket cap screw lift a Cessna airplane!

Tensile strength of a 1/2x13 UNC Holo-Krome socket cap screw is 24,000 lbs!
