BRake lights slowly failed, rear tail lights out
so this is somewhat of a sudden problem. i used to have all working brake lights. my mom first noticed i had a brake light out, and then another. i replaced all the bulbs and still nothing. i switched the sockets for the ones in the turn signal section and the turn signals work fine. i thought maybe it was the fuse so i got out the book and found which fuses it could be. none are blown. leaving my parents house last night, my mom said i have no lights at all. signals are fine, reverse lights are fine. anyone electrically inclined?

So the right brake light works and the center light works. The brake light works when the lights aren't on. When the lights are on, the right light(the only one that works) running light works. When I press the brakes, it turns off completely

this is it for a 93:
Mine was not working...then would stay on. took this out and cleaned it up.
the black plunger touches the arm on the brake pedal. There was a thread about this problem about 10-11 mo ago...
you can see (maybe) there are two parts that slide together. Note the black squares showing that are part of the plunger switch..and the horizontal cut outs...pulled that apart and cleaned it up and it stopped sticking...and started coming on. I still check them once in a while to make sure it's still on.....
edit..found a bigger /better photo...depending on year, yours might be somewhat different. I've seen newer ones that are all black
