Default 08 grand Cherokee 5.7 limited 4x4 issues

Ok yesterday I made a right turn and just lost all power. Engine revving but going no where!!! I looked under and seen the front drive shaft was just spinning freely, while the rear didn't. I put it in 4x4 low and she drove!!!! I looked again the front shaft wasn't spinning. Can anyone help me figure out what's going on here?????

sounds like a transfer case issue. although, if either of the driveshafts is turning (and connected on both ends) the vehicle should move.

Which 4WD system you have going on there. Iirc there's 2 or 3 different systems. If you have the auto system, you can have a wheel sensor issue.
