Default 03 laredo keeps overheating

I've replaced the fan relay twice, probably has gone out again. why does this keep happening? I've changed the radiator, the water pump, and thermostat as well. The pig tail that goes to the relay has a little melting in the plug from before the first time I changed the relay. Related? Help me out here guys.

Yeah, you've probably lost contact in the plug. That relay is a "pulse modulated" relay controlled by the PCM. Good contacts are necessary because of the low voltages used.

So what are you saying? change the pigtail or the fan motor? I read somewhere that when the fan motors are on their way out they can draw more power which can melt the plug. It was melted before I changed the last one though and the new relay worked. So im thinkin fan motor? And change wiring since plug was melted a little.

Okay, so change all three; fan motor, pigtail, and relay.

There is another option. Somewhere on this forum, there is a good write-up about installing an electric fan setup to replace a hydraulic one. The guy made a complete list of what parts he used, where he got them, and what they cost. I think he even had a wiring diagram. The whole thing cost less than the hydraulic fan did. Do a search and you should find it.

Yea I heard about installing one that runs off the flywheel, but id rather not alter the oem parts. I may just replace the fan motor, exchange the relay, again, and see what happens.

I think I'd replace the plug to the relay (pigtail). Sound to me like it's not making a solid contact causing it to overheat.

I don't think he's listening, Patriot.
