Some video links from same trip:

****EDITED****

The video links do not work. Trying to find original videos to post them to YouTube and then hotlink them from there.

Sorry about that... check back in the future, they might be there.

lol.. define always? It has "always" been dented since Jeeptoberfest 2012 the first time I removed my swaybars and the front wheel got slammed into it denting my oil pan and crushing my tranny cooler lines

Which brings me to the rust:

^^^^(You can see where I "repaired" the spot that I cut open trying to remove the shackle frame nut)^^^^

Built-in canteens:

rust

ah yes, that is straight through - that is my garage floor you're looking at.

rust

And yes more holes

Well, the plan is to POR15 the whole floor, ruff up and fiberglass over the holes - I have fiberglassing skills, but no welder. This is cheaper and will work just as well and I don't have to worry about catching the gas tank on fire while I welding over top of it. After I POR15 and glass, I'm planning on doing a sound deadener plus bedliner and then quadratec heavy duty rubber floor mats.

In the meantime, I gotta have something to cover up the holes to keep me from getting CO poisoning. PLUS I HATE IT!!!

So I started with a cheap floor rug that we got from walmart and no longer used. I think we may have paid 10-15 bucks for it.

Cut off as much as I needed:

aaaand put the rest back:

Measured basic straight lines for the cutouts:

Fine tuned them for the curves of the fenders and the other odds and ends:

Cut 'em out:

Of course cut out holes for the tie-downs as well and put it in:

I'm pretty happy with the temporary fix and it breaths better than the facotry stuff so it doesn't trap water.

Thanks, one of my friends at work was pretty impressed too. I didn't think it was all that impressive, but I was glad it turned out as well as it did lol.

Yeah, I've heard of that chasis saver - I think the POR15 is more affordable though. Nope, still haven't repaired the floor yet. Holding up just fine for now.

Jeeptoberfest last year was a blast so I joined the OJC and worked the event on Sunday but I wanted to make sure I got some play time in too.

Here was a shot of me on the stock trail last year:

This year, the first time I went on the stock trail, it was a parking lot, but it was a lot more fun on the second day 'cause there were less people there. After the trail, I hit the RTI ramp and got a score of 683 - not bad for a stock 2wd XJ

Couple of other cool shots from the show

The tan CJ in the background of this shot is flexing on N20Jeep's "Project Florida Crawler"

Loved this '46 CJ2A

Another one of my favorites on 2.5 tons

Scored these for free from a guy in the club. OEM Shocks off a JKU. About 2-3" longer than the xj shocks which will be good for a BB. Good enough for a 3.5" lift if I get a couple of cheaters from detoursusa. I think he said there were less than 40k on them. Heck of a lot better than my wore-out Gabriels

I'll probably put them in the same time I do these:

Shocks will end up being a little too long for them, but that's okay, I'll just bumpstop to accomodate.

I'll also be installing these once I get that one frame nut welded.

This is the one that was on the jeep to level the drive and passenger sides out. I couldn't use the bottom bolt holes at the time because it would have been too much. I couldn't use the ones above them because the "adjustable" portion was meant for lowering, not lifting. So I had to cut a little bit and then bend the gussets upward to fit the spring's main eye in. When I install both, I'll use the bottom holes. I also had to cut the bushings on one side to make them fit in the shackle mounts on the frame.

Well my motor mounts are shot. I lifted my hood one day and was looking at the motor and thought, "that's weird I didn't know these things sit slant-ways in the engine bay - never noticed that." So I just kinda brushed it off as nothing. Then I was checking for where the oil leaking was coming from and I discovered there was no rubber left in the driver's side mount. Time for new mounts.

I had heard a lot of good things about Brown Dog Motor Mounts and knew that if I was going to spend the money to replace them, I was better off upgrading. So, 80-something dollars (shipped) later...

These things are the real deal. I haven't even installed them yet and I wish I could have afforded the engine mount brackets and the transmission mount.

Sure wish I had time to install them 12 hour shifts 7 days a week does not leave time for Jeep maintenance. So we'll just call this a teaser for now.

Other coming attractions...

NP 242 shift bezel and GM pickup under hood work light/reel. Best light evaarrr!

Well fans and friends, that's it for now. From here on out, the build thread carries on at a snail's pace. But I'll definitely update it as I do more stuff.

Near-future plans include:
Scavenging the remaining parts for the 4wd conversion:
-Front and rear driveshaft
-Front axle
-Shift linkage
31" tires
Trimming
Ruggid Ridge Flares
Remove the rest of the carpet
Repair the floors

Later plans include:
4.5" LA lift
35" tires
8.8 or 29-spline 8.25
Rear ECTED locker
Bumpers
Winch
Armor
WHATEVER I FEEL LIKE, GOSH!

That's an under-hood light right? Let me know how useful it is... I've either been considering one of those or a flood light type deal. I have one of the hanging work lights but there's no good place to hang it. I wish I had a garage

Extremely useful. I had an '88 GMC Sierra that had one on it. I got a flat one time in the dark - pulled that light all the way to the rear of the truck, stuck it on the tailgate to winch the spare down, stuck it on the side of the truck to be able to see to take the lugs off, then reeled it back up when I was done and shut the hood. The light itself has a magnetic base on it so it will stick to anything steel.

Every jeep should have one.

There's enough wire in the reel to practically wrap all the way around your jeep.
