Took the XJ to the Jeepfreeks Reunion show yesterday out of 40 rigs that did the articulation test I came in 7th place with the XJ. It would lift a tire 29-1/2" off the ground before any others lifted. My YJ came in 9th with 28-3/4". So I was happy with my rigs. Considering I beat some long arm xj's wj's and TJ's.

Now I just need to start messing with my rear to get it to flex better I am sure if my rear would have flexed better I would have been top 3

Congrats on placing so well in the flex competition. I had a question for you about your sliders. I will be getting a set from Terry, and I was wondering how much they stiffened the frame/chassis. I am going back and forth on getting actual stiffeners because my XJ is also the wife's DD and weekend warrior, so it's by no means a hardcore crawler. But I want the XJ to last as well. So what are your feeling about how much they stiffened things up?

They made a big difference. I am sure I would have destroyed my unibody from it twisting while wheeling a few times. But it made a difference I could tell the chassis is stiffer with them. My wife uses the XJ as her dd also

Do you plan on frame stiffeners eventually or do you think the rails are enough stiffening for the trails you run? I ask because we run the same trails.

I have seen your wife driving a few times on my way to work. It looked good on the 35s, but I understand going back to 33s because of high tranny temps. The Napier flares look great too. I only get to see it for a few seconds from time to time.

Just to let you know, you are the reason I looked into RigidCo's sliders and talked to Terry about them. Your install and reviews of them were great. Now I work for Terry, cutting out and prepping parts for him. I love seeing every bumper and slider get built from start to finish. His products are tough and his prices are low.

Awesome thanks. I don't plan on adding any frame stiffeners. Once my YJ is regeared I will start back on the XJ. I'll probably add a snorkel to the XJ and regear it to 4.10 and stick with 33's but I'll goto a 12.50 once they wear out. And get a rear tire carrier from terry. The XJ will be more of the family rig/overland rig and my YJ I am building to be a Stock class Comp rig. So it'll be more of my hardcore crawler. Right now I am in a parts gathering process of building a nasty 8.8 4.56's , C-clip eliminator (uses d60 bearings ) chromoly shafts , full case locker, welding the shafts to the housing and a small truss. Should hold upto a 40" tire from what I read and i won't go over a 35-37

That sounds like a sick 8.8 build you have planed. I considered a similar 8.8 build for my XJ, but I can't justify it for a non-competion rig. The 8.25 should be plenty for what we use them for. Thanks for answering my questions. Your insight has been a big help. Keep up the great work. Your build continues to be a great example for me to follow.

Just a heads up for you. Terry is pretty much discontinuing the rear bumper/tire carriers. If you want one you might want to contact him soon.
