Default Suspension Help!

I just bought a 1999 Grand Cherokee 4x4 and im trying to decide what suspension to go with. Im looking to build my jeep for mainly desert trails and mountain trails. Not to much rock climbing. Should I spend the money and get a long arm lift? Or is that just over kill?
