Storm Trooper
i hope the name is not lame...but i want my jeep to be white and black..thats it and it would look like a storm trooper.
-1999 SE
-4.0
-AX-15 manual
-NP231
-HP30 3.78
-Chryco 8.25 3.78
-4door
Its basic and has no power windows or locks but does have power mirrors?
116,200 miles and runs like new.
bought it off of craigs list for $3500 from a real nice guy who has owned it all but the first year when it was leased.
it spent 4 years in new york so there is some surface rust here and there, but nothing that cant be sanded and painted.
it came with 15x8 eagle alloys which will eventually be painted black.
30x9.5s in the rear and 28s or 29s up front so it doesn't rub.
overall i am VERY happy with it! i spent about 4 months looking on craigslist and test drove about 6 of these things and i finally found the right one and bought it 5 hours after it was posted on craigslist!
The only thing i don't like about it is that the transmission feels kind of "clunky" to me, but i am used to driving my sisters Mazda rx8 so it is most likely normal. and there are no sincros in reverse so i have to wait for the super heavy inertia of the flywheel to slow ALL the way down before trying to engage reverse. but no big deal there.
PLANS!!! (i am going off to college here in a month so i have to do this all pretty quickly!)
-3" lift from rustys, iron rock off road, or rough country.
-31inch general grabber ATs unless i get some negative feedback on them here and i will shell out the extra $ to get some bfg mk2s.
-black out all trim and bumpers
-roof rack to throw the second spare tire onto.
-Audio system transplant from my dodge 1500. (three 8"s and a dual flip out screen head unit)
-all fluid changes.
-and hopefully some recovery points.
here are the picks after a good cleaning and getting rid of an ugggggly pin stripe!
Stay tuned for progress over the next month or so. THANKS!
by the way this is my first real build and the first 4x4 ive owned and operated other than my moms land rover:/

don't run different sized tires in the front from the rear! always run same sized tires on a 4x4 or you'll blow a t-case or axle.

and thats a/c condensation on the driveway not oil!
and the first thing to do is to paint these horrible looking fender flares and bumpers!
what paint would you suggest using? i am not sure if i want satin or gloss black? would gloss black look good on the rough plastic..though i will be sanding and prepping the plastic!!

these are pics of the newly painted fender flares and bumpers..
plastics were painted with duplicolors "bumper paint". it worked awesome!!!! not like a coat of paint over them...it sort of saturated them and made them come back to a deep black. as for the metal bumpers i sanded them and hit them with some rusty metal primer to be safe and then gloss black paint. came out awesome!! i did 4 coats on everything sanding in between coats so they will hold up on the trail.

thanks guys. now i just need to figure out what do do about this lift!!??
i like the prices at iron rock off road with their 3" kit but i dont know if the extras that come with that kit are needed like the extended sway bar links?? and ive heard so many bad things about the bushings that rough country uses.
i need someone to give me a strait answer!
