more rust and rear springs
used fiberglass for the first time. I really loved how it turned out. the expanding foam gives some strength to the rust holes and the fiberglass covers it up. It is really strong so I am happy
I got the rack on, and it held up the 250 lbs without problems.

new rear springs No broken bolts....... not
I was hoping to do a write up about changing the rear springs and getting to say "no bolts were broken and a saws-all was not used"
it was not to be.
after about two years of saggy rear springs they started bottoming out.
so a call was made and some crown products springs was send to my house.
for two weeks I have been soaking all the bolts with PB blaster.
there are little holes in the "frame" that you can spray in.
with much much care. with a lot of in and out resoak in and out resoak the u bolts came off.
now the rear spring rear bolts were real easy. now the front bolts were a pain.
a 3/4 break over bar with lots of in and out. the whole uni-body would twist back and forth but after three hours the bolts were out of the nuts.
the bolts would not leave the spring bushings! I tried to cut the bushing and put vise-gripes on the bushings but nothing. so I got out the saws-all and three blades later no more rear springs!
shock bolts were all broken off. drilled and taped to 3/8. so that should now hold up.

clutch and a water pump
when I bought the jeep the clutch was real hard to push. not only that it would not go in gear unless you push the shiftier hard and waited for the pop.
I do not have alot of pics. shop was dark and I was working at night.
I can tell you that one of the studs of the cross member broke off. its being held by two self tapping screws for now.......

planning and research
this is what I have decided in the last month.
let the ordering begin!
Spartan Locker for the Dana 30
Bad apple covers front and rear (black)
air tank
I am going to be doing a few air box mods, this
https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/bu...location-2599/
and
front frame tie in kit
a tie rod flip (Rusty's)
some lighter cheaper rock sliders, covers rust and does not weigh 80 lbs

moved to the cold
I got a different pad. it has a 16 X 20 shop that needs to be cleaned.
I found a old stove in a family barn that I burned all the mouse poo out of it last night
started cleaning and hope to have this shop in use by the end of the year.

project engine noise
project engine noise has started.
over the last 25,000 or so miles the motor has had more and more of a rattle.
oil pressure was never less than 25 psi with the manual gauge. it only rattles when is is not under load and reving. so what to do, pull the pan and see what is up.

slap my pistons silly
well that was not what I wanted.....
rods .0015 perfect
mains .0015 perfect
pistons real sloppy in the bores....... I got a .012 feeler gauge to slide all the way up to the rings. book says should be no more than .0017 so this thing is super wore.
weird cause it still puts down good seat of the pants power.
well looks like I am going to put rods and an high volume oil pump and call it two days.
not going to pull the motor right now.
