Also, nothing to do with my build...well, maybe, depending on if it sucks up my weekend AGAIN....but this came in today...keep in mind the above pics I posted of the driver trying to run the Hammers in washed out ruts, is the same guy...
This should be vertical...
Shots of where it broke...
This could only have happened two ways...inspection failure, or hit something. He claimed he didn't hit anything, so...major structural pieces just don't fall apart...
Also, remember the pics I posted of the frame cracked in half? FIXED IT.
This was a big help...had to drill a bunch of holes to make it work, haha
Kinda made us feel like bank robbers...electromagnetic drill press. Sometimes you get to use some cool tools, lolz

Dang Roni! Do some work, why don't ya? That's a helluva frame repair man. I thought sure that frame was trash.

The driver was lucky it happened at a stop, and not on the road...that easily could have killed someone.
FWIW, I also tell everyone I know, if you see one of our trucks driving down the street, don't get behind them...and pass them on the left to get around them. Kinda sad.
I know, right? We rented it for a week. Only needed it 2 days. Now we're looking for any excuse just to use it, haha!

If I had anything to do with it, they'd ALL be gone, LOL The driver was lucky it happened at a stop, and not on the road...that easily could have killed someone. The company will trip over a dollar to pick up a penny. I get trying to keep costs low, but we have to fight everyday to get the stuff we need just to get by...it's a business, folks, you gotta spend money to keep it going

Man. Brutal week. It's been hot hot hot all week...the last 3 days alone it's been 111* at the peak, every day...overnight it drops, but even at around 4-5 am, it's still 80* out there...let me put it this way...right now, it's 8:30 pm, sun has gone down, and it's still 102* out there...yikes!
So, I haven't done squat all week, LOL...but, today, when I got home, I did do this:
Got the axle off the stands, and onto the trans jack for transplant in the am hours. Planning on an EARLY morning, haha!
If I can get it on it's own weight tomorrow, I'll be a happy guy. After the sun comes up, it gets to around 90* by 9:30am...triple digits by 11, if not sooner.
No plans for Sunday yet, wanna see where I get Saturday first. It's getting to the point now where there's just a lot of little odds and ends that need dealing with...after the axle is in, I need to route the brake hard lines, and attach them to the leaf spring plate, rebuild the rear DS and paint, same with the front DS, need to add the SS extended brake lines up front, bleed the system, start putting armor back on, reinstall gas tank, the list goes on...gotta just take it one day at a time...I'm also going to be ordering my shocks mid next week.
So, getting closer.

I hate workin' in the heat. pull out an ext. cord and put a fan on ya while yer wrenching.
Can't wait to get our disk brake job going but I'm looking forward to seeing this one done.
Good Luck.

I just bought a Shop-Vac Mighty Mini Air Blower and for $50 it blows 500cm of air, it's a handy little guy. I'd recommend it to anyone who's working in the heat.

Got up early again, was out there at 5am.
Painted the u-bolt plates...
Lining things up...
U-bolts in, jack out!
Trimmed down the excess on the u-bolts and center pins, then drilled out the soft line bracket to fit over the u-bolt plate, and re-routed hard lines to line up. I may revisit this later, and do custom hard lines for a cleaner look.
All brake lines attached...
...ready for wheels...
WHEELS ON!!! SHE'S ON HER OWN WEIGHT!!!
Jounced and rebounded the springs several times with everything loose. Tomorrow I'll tighten all the hardware out back with it on it's own weight. Going to the parts store later to nail down my other parking brake cable. If I can get the cable I need, I'll bleed the rear brakes tomorrow, but not counting on that. Thinking of putting some weight in the back to get it closer to ride weight, with bumpers, accessories and tools loaded. It sits a bit high in the rear right now, and I know it will settle, but it can't hurt, right? LOL
Anyways, I'll play tomorrow by ear. Might also get the u-joints to rebuild the driveshafts, and paint them. We'll see. Just happy to be back on all fours!
I think it looks killer!
