Well, it's hotter than a whorehouse on nickel night, so I got up with the chickens, to beat the heat. As soon as it was light enough to see, I was out there, haha! Around 5am-ish...

Got the back jacked up, and wheels off, and proceeded to tear into it...

So, shocks first...had them out in less than 5 minutes...Bimmer would have been astounded, LMFAO

Then, got the drums off...yeah, those bad boys were on their last legs for sure...

One of the wheel studs took a bit to get off...because the threads were jacked...no matter, I'll be replacing all...

More shots of the awful drum brakes...

Started the next scrap pile, LOL

Roni's Rogue4x4 Build...finally!-20160625_064838.jpg

Hardware out...so happy that I didn't need to pay attention to how they went together...BigD's disc brake swap FTW!

Got the e-brake cables out...TECH TIP: For those who don't know, using the box end of a 1/2" combination wrench gets those things out in a jiffy. Just slide it over the cable, wiggle it on the expanding springs, and they pop right out!

Pile is growing...

Roni's Rogue4x4 Build...finally!-20160625_072948.jpg

Got the rest of the cables/hoses dealt with...another trick if you don't know...for the brake hardline. Use a vacuum plug to keep your brake fluid from dripping out. Then I took the DS out...saw this:

Roni's Rogue4x4 Build...finally!-20160625_090045.jpg

Nothing but dust came out of the cap...so looks like I'll be either replacing u-joints, or maybe it's just time for some new Tom Woods action...anyways, moved on to pulling the axle...

Loosened the rear shackle bolts and dropped 'em...then you can guess what happened...both front bolts are hosed. Driver's side the weld nut broke loose, passenger side, came out about a half inch, then froze. Looks like some cutting is in my future, LOL

Got the axle pressure washed with some purple power, and got it on the stands in the garage.

Got way too hot, so called it a day. Up early again tomorrow, think I'll start the prep for the rear stiffeners. Gonna see if I can borrow the plasma cutter from work to deal with the spinning/frozen leaf eye bolts...or rent one. Regardless, I'll deal with it later. Pretty happy with today's progress, bumps and all...

Hey Roni... not sure what's up with your links man... they're not displaying pictures, and when you click on the attachment, this is the message that comes up:

Taken care of...what a PITA

Started the post, pic heavy, had most of it written with attachments, and got rushed out the door to go to dinner at my NaNa's house...people couldn't wait 5 damn minutes...got there and the food wasn't even ready, and when I came home to finish it up, links had expired. Had to re-insert all pics manually.

That's 2 hours of my life I won't get back, LOL....the build thread is as complicated as the build itself, HAHA

Nice progress! Wish I had your motivation! I got real wild today and switched out my turn signal covers, and pulled out my TC shift linkage so I can install the boostwerks stuff tomorrow.

Got out there early again today, though not AS early, LOL....slight trouble motivating today...coffee wasn't working, haha!

So I got out there at 6 AM. It was a nice 70* out. Grabbed my trusty needle scaler and got to it.

Got back in at 11 AM. 97* at that point. 27* difference in 5 hours...I was sweating like a ***** in church, LMAO...and it's supposed to get hotter today...so now I'm inside, after a cold shower, drinking a cold beer. Life is good...

Next weekend is kinda in the air. I originally took Friday off, to have a 4 day weekend. Put in for it a month ago. Was told the other day, I can still take off Friday, If I wanted, but would have to come back in on Saturday. I contested at first, stating the only reasons I took Friday off, was 1. it's my birthday, and 2. I wanted a 4 day weekend to work on my jeep...

So I was thinking...why take Friday off to work Saturday? I have to work the following Saturday anyways to make up for the holiday...so if I work both days, I'll get OT for Saturday...if I don't, it's straight time on Saturday.

Told them I would really like the weekend off, but if it wasn't happening, I'll work both days and save my PTO. They said we'd talk this week, LOL

We'll see what's more important to them...OT or PTO, haha...ball's in your court *****es

I really need to get one of them scalers. Well... I need a better compressor first, then I need a scaler.

It's the garbage business. They have a contractual obligation with the city to pick up the trash every week. I do get the holiday off, with pay, but since there's no trash pickup on Monday, it has to be done on Saturday. So, I never truly get a day off with holidays...basically rob from Peter to pay Paul, LOL

Yeah but. You're not the garbage man. You're the welder. Your *** isn't sittin' in the truck on saturday to go and haul off the trash.

People at the same company or organization CAN work different hours. Tell 'em to quit being idiots.
