I Like the flares. Especially at the $$$$ of aftermarket flares. If your state gets their panties in a bunch over tires being outside the fender-wells. That solves the problem.

So this happened while wheelin today. I noticed when I stopped to air up after driving about 20 minutes. Not sure if the bolt came loose and fell out or sheared, probably just fell out. Attachment 287541

Scary indeed! As important as it is to check the jeeps out before they hit the woods I don't think I would've noticed that. Not exactly something I expected to happen. I'm also very guilty of not really checking the jeep out before going out.

The thing is my jeep get driven about 5% of any daily driving other than when we hit the trails. So checking it before we go sometimes goes by the wayside. I know someday something like that will happen. Oh wait it already did, my shock mount bolt came so loose one time, that I thought I had a serious problem with all the racket it made. Good thing you weren't on the highway and had to make an emergency maneuver.

quick update on me:
Out of school and living with my parents for the summer. Started a job today as a process engineer intern at a medical devices company. 40 hours a week and good money, but I need the Jeep everyday so probably no big projects this summer.
I've been kickin around with a Jeep club around me called Granite State Offroad. Last week we did a lung cancer awareness rally over the Kancamangus. 32 rigs in a convoy. It was snowing at the peak of the pass! Hopefully will be wheelin with them soon.
A few weeks ago I lost my CB antenna in the woods. I went out and bought the $15 one from walmart because I wanted it for a run a couple weeks ago and when I turned the radio on with the new antenna it starting smoking then blew a fuse so I took it out for now. I'm not going to screw around with magnetic mounts anymore, just going to build a real mount like I should've before.
So some things I'm looking to do soon:
-KJ discs in the rear. Hopefully on my week off over the 4th.
-YJ lines in the front
-A real CB setup
-Rewire/fix a couple of my speakers
-Get my welder working, fix my swaybar mount
-Weld up front tow hooks
-Clean up wires under the hood.
-Cut down my seat bracket maybe
-Put some trim around my sunroof and make it stop rattling
I just bought parts for a WJ swap (thanks Big David!). I would love to be able to get them on this summer but I don't think its going to happen. I'm planning on just running the WJ knuckles with stock steering for awhile to break up the work.

I started doing that with things that I had a problem with. My track bar bracket came loose once so I tightened it back up painted the area yellow and took some pin stripping tap and made it easier to at a glance see if it has moved.

I used a paint marker on my jam nuts at one point but it all wore off. The pinstripe tape is a good idea.

Been working on my motorcycle a bunch instead of the jeep. Finally got it running and I've been riding it to work the past couple days.
I also picked up this daily off a friend of mine for $600, a 30 rack and a pack of smokes. 1998 Volvo s70. 5 cylinder turbo 5 speed.
So today I finally got the motivation to start working on the jeep. Step one is rear disc brakes. Stay tuned.
Edit: here's something kinda funny. I attempted to rebuild my KJ and WJ brake calipers and failed miserably. I destroyed the pistons on one of each of them. Took them in as cores and got myself 4 new calipers.

I've been slacking a bit on the jeep but I did get the brakes all bolted up. Still need to bleed them and figure out how to hook up the parking brake lines. They look goooood.
KJ backing plates, EBC pads and rotors, new calipers, Dana 30 studs, WJ soft lines, ZJ prop valve internals.
