Yesterday was nice and warm, so I was able to start on something I've been meaning to do for quite awhile. My YJ is in pretty good shape for its age, and I'm trying to keep rust under control before it becomes a problem.

The underside of the floor wasn't looking too good when I removed the gas tank, and I finally started cleaning it up yesterday. I was planning to finish up today, but rain moved in. The paint will be flat black when it dries, same as the frame.

Removing 25 years of paint, rust, dirt, road grime, and who knows what else.

(Not pictured: Safety glasses that kept it all out of my eyes. I mostly used a flap disc on the angle grinder and a wire cup on the drill.)

That mask is a good cosmetic improvement on your face, Tim.

hahaha.... true story there. I underestimated just how much dust it would create when you wire-brush rusty metal. I decided to start on my welding cart project a couple weeks ago when we had a cold snap. I had a cold and didn't want to open the garage, so I pulled my angle iron into the garage, threw a surgical mask and some safety goggles on and went to town.

10 minute later, it was really hazy in the garage. When I opened the garage door, there was so much rusty dust pouring out of the garage, it looked like it was on fire lesson learned.
