Yeah i've always ran Rotella deisel oil in every engine I've owned (all cast iron blocks). The high Zinc content is great to help stop wear. Also the thicker oil helps quiets down the light tick pretty much everyone has on their 4.0.
Sidenote: next time go to walmart instead of autozone, the Rotella is like 4$ less there for fhe gallon.

Thanks. I was getting it at cost, so it was actually cheaper at autozone. My wife found that tractor supply has gallons for like $10, so I got it there last time

Got the new headliner in today. The old one was sagging pretty bad. I got it redone in black, think it gives a nice two tone look to the camel interior.
Old saggy headliner.
I painted the overhead light plastics with flat black interior paint.
Still deciding if i should get the visors done in black, or leave them camel color?

Maybe just paint the frames/covers for the visor mirrors in the same flat black, and leave the cloth tan? I personally like the contrast.

I think ill just leave the visors tan for now. There dirty so eventually ill have to get them redone.
Also i plan on taking out the carpet and dying it black. I don't want to have to deal with trying to keep the stains out.
Next on the to-do list is to take off all the end caps and bedliner them. Probably will do that this weekend.

Changed the rear Diff fluid with some new full synthetic today. The old fluid looked to be actually pretty new, so it didn't really have to be changed. Ohh well.
I've never used full synthetic in the rear diff before. How often do you change it?

Nice clean jeep you've got there! What's up with all the 2wd XJs in Florida?? D30 front axles can be found cheap amd swapped over if you're ever interested. As for the Trucklites, they're awesome. Great cutoff, super bright, plug and play. Only gripes I have is they don't melt the snow on them (something you don't have to worry about luckly), the price is a bit daunting, and I had an issue with my fog light relay where the lights would only stay on high-beam; I resolved it by taking out the relay because I got a new bumper and had no use for the fog lights. Diff oil I believe is a 50k mile service. Unless you go through deep mud or water.

So i've decided to go with a RC 2'' lift. Spacer in the front and shackles in the rear. I'm thinking of going with Skyjacker hydro shocks. I need shocks that would be soft on the pavement, because that is 90% of what i use my XJ for.
Any input on other shocks that would be good for street use? I would go Old Man EMU or Bilsteins but i can afford them at the moment.

Not many top brands make a 2 inch lift that has shackles. I don't wanna use add-a-leafs. All the other ones are $300+ and come with shocks that I don't need.

I have been comparing the different options i have for a 2 inch lift and it seems that RC has the best looking product (quality wise) and have pretty good reviews.

^^^Agreed, since it doesn't consist of much, just piece it together. IRO should have spacers and shackles that have better bushings than RC.
Also, think long and hard about how high you really want to be. I was convinced for years that 3.5" and 31's was all I needed (which it is), but now that I've been wrenching on my jeep for two years 3.5" and 31's isn't enough.
