Well, the tires came in last night, so now I have everything I need to start getting it lifted. All I need to do now is get the tires mounted and balanced. Unfortunately, I lost my job yesterday, so that may be taking a back seat for a little bit...

Sorry to hear about the job big guy. Don't worry about the XJ until you have funds to do it again. Trust me, I was unemployed for a while and wanted to mod the hell out of my XJ but the money just wasn't right.

All I really need to spend money on is getting the tires mounted and balanced on the rims. I got a quote of $10 apiece from my local Tire Warehouse, so I think I can swing that no problem.

On a related note...does anyone know of a site with a list of torque specs for the bolts holding shocks/springs/etc. onto the body and frame? I want to get all my numbers together before I dive into the install.

Yay, another issue found. I don't know if I should just live with this one for now, or if it's indicative of a larger problem. Driving down the road this evening, and my ceiling dome light would randomly turn on for a half second, then turn off. All doors were closed tightly, and I wasn't going over any bumps.

Also, when I reached my destination and turned the vehicle off, I pushed in the headlight knob, shut the door...and noticed that the headlights were still on, even with the knob pushed all the way in and key out of the ignition. Cycling the ignition once fixed the issue.

I'm thinking the headlight switch causing the problem...thoughts?

Well, we started work on the lift kit on Monday. 8 hour job my rear end...we should be done by midday tomorrow. I lost my helper, and getting the new leaf springs in by yourself is a task best left alone.

Pics will be forthcoming when it's finally done!

Default Finished!

Alright, the lift kit is completely in. Had to do a slight amount of fender flare trimming to eliminate some rubbing, and I still need to do a little bit of smacking the get the inner fender to bend in a little to completely eliminate it, but for the most part it's done.

Before:

And after!

And of course, you have to have pride in your heritage...

I'm done with it for now, seeing as how I don't have a job, and that means no money to do mods with. As soon as I get a job, though...more will be incoming!

if i turn my ignition ioff first then turn the lights off they stay on for a few min anyway, cant remember the name but its so u can get in your house safely.
caught me out many times till i figured it out lol.

you can always do minor jobs that are work orientated and not money, so when you do get a job you can go at it full tilt without worrying about the little stuff.

Ahh, good to know about the headlights. I was wondering if that was the case, but I didn't know about the ignition thing. The other issue with the lights, with the interior light randomly flickering on and off, is a little worrisome, but not too badly. Now I'm trying to rid myself of fender rubbing; I've trimmed a bit here and there, but I just need to put the finishing touches on it to get rid of all the rubbing.

Unfortunately, I'm going to get some rubbing when I'm flexed, since 31" tires with a 3" = rubbing, no matter what you do...
