My 01 XJ Build Thread Dun dun dunnnnn
I bought my XJ a few weeks ago and when I was driving back I blew out a tire after I hit some FOD on the road.
I've never wheeled much and only plan on just hitting trails and not going crazy. I was looking at buying new tires for the Jeep even though they may not need them. The only reason is that I have 3 Mickey Thompsons and a cheap pepboys tires.
I'd like to get a 3in lift put on and throw some 31x10.50s on after more thought. I figure if I bought 30x9.50s now and lifted later I'd be unhappy.
Went up to an offroad place and he gave me a quote on a RE kit and it was like maybe roughly 550-600 installed.
What's been done
1. Yellowtop Optima Battery
2. Rubber Antenna Mast :-D
3. Woodgrain Center Bezel
4. Catch-All Floormats(I LOVE THESE)
5. Center Console Replaced - I've got a working ashtray now
6. Desmoked! No more smoker smell.
7. Cluster Bezel replaced
8. Mudflaps Removed
9. Convex mirrors installed
10. Thule MOAB Rack INSTALLED!
11. New Battery Cables installed.
12. Leather seats installed from a 97 Country.
What's to be done
1. RE6030 Super Flex 3.5in Lift with full leaf packs/ Waiting for shipment and install
2. 16in Custom-Painted Icon Rims - Waiting for shipping price. Need Tires.
3. ARB Bull-Bar Front Bumper
4. C-Rok Rear Bumper
5. Rectangular Driving Lights
6. Sound system - Looking at a Sony headunit right now.

I dont know numbers, but seems everyone has a different experiance. I have a 4.5 lift and run 32s. This has not effected mine enough to notice. It gets around 16 mpg on city streets 18 on highway. However with 35s it gets around 12 city.

Installed a woodgrain center bezel and catchall mats to add a little bit to my build.
Looking at going for a lift next.
Speaking of which how hard is it to install a lift?

Got around to replacing the instrument cluster bezel yesterday. It was pretty easy. Didn't even pull the headlight switch out like instructed in Haynes.
I'm currently trying to figure out what to do next since all the next things are big money.
The lift kit is going to be pretty expensive. I've found the RE6030 with leafpacks for 760 delivered. But I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to get new shocks and probably an SYE kit with driveshaft which is going to end up costing over 1200 bucks all said and done probably.
I could go ahead and get the wheels delivered but I want to do that with the tires. But I'm not buying tires until my 30s wear down.
So the next big things are a system, rear bumper, and front bumper.
I'm thinking bumper. Rear bumper is cheapest besides a new head unit for the system.
Decisions decisions.
I'll have some pictures up soon.
I also removed the cheap foglights and the deer whistles. Didn't like the way they looked especially not working.
I also gorilla taped the splash guard into place since the fasteners fell out and part of it was ripped up.

Installed the a new door check today. It creaks but it works. Easy install for anyone who needs to do one. I probably should grease it up or something so it doesn't creak.
