"Milo" The 1989 2 Door build
#527
i know that 15x8 is the right size since my tires are 10.5 wide but the only thing thats keeping me from buying the ion wheels is the backspacing since i am only going to lift the car by 3.5in re

Hey Cherokee Forum.... I'm back from my 2 year mission to Ohio. It was an incredible experience, but its good to be back home. Anyway, I appreciate all of your comments, support, help, and motivation over the course of the time that i had with "Milo"...
As much as it kills me to say this, I no longer have my Jeep. Milo ended up having to be sold so i can pay for school However it is in the hands of someone who i hope will take care of it, and enjoy it like i did.
I really don't know what more i can say... i guess if there is one thing that i did learn in building this jeep it was this...
Patience.
Don't give up. When my friends and family saw this jeep pull up in front of the house on a flat bed trailer, they laughed and didn't hesitate to call it a piece of junk. They saw a worn out old jeep, i saw potential. They saw a money pit.... well... i guess i saw that too haha... but it was worth it! There were countless times i would be in the middle of an upgrade, or repair and i would run in to problem after problem and be ready to give up and drive it off a cliff. But for whatever reason i found the patience to keep moving forward with it and i'll always be grateful i did.
So.. as of right now, i'm jeepless. Which basically feels like i'm missing half of myself haha.
of course in the near future my next vehicle will undoubtedly be a jeep, so perhaps one day there will be a milo 2
I wish everyone the best of luck with their cherokees, and i'll of course still be around, and hopefully one day i'll be back with another jeep build!
Thanks again!

I just registered so I could reply to this after reading for hours. I've had a stock 89 2 door sport sitting since 2010 just waiting to be turned into something as wonderful. It's original paint is gray as well. I'm almost tempted to paint it white when the time comes, but I think since I'm more of a blacked-out type of personality I'll instead highlight the springs and such underneath in white in tribute to Milo. It'll be a long drawn out process since I'm pretty poor, but I am saving money. I'm just not sure what I want to start with yet. I should probably go with an engine rebuilt since it has 265k on it lol, but I'm looking for D44 sets, and an AX15 to set aside for a future swaps. We'll see what happens.
Anyway, the saga was inspirational to say the least. I hope you get a new Jeep soon so you can create a new friend to spend time with and a lot of money on. We all expect to see the new build when it happens too!

And one day when you are older and grayer you will understand fully what building this jeep really did for you other than getting you from point A - B.
The life lessons you learned can't have a price put on them. I'm glad you took lots of pictures. You will want them when your older.
Good job.

No idea if you’ll see this, but I am now the proud owner of Milo. Definitely didn’t know I was getting a piece of history when I traded my dirtbike for her. And it’s really wild to think that I searched 1989 two-door XJ and this thread was one of the first things to pop up.

This is like a children’s tale about Milo’s journey (I obviously have kids) if you think about it from Milo’s perspective.
Thanks for posting up and congrats on your new to you XJ.
