The Long-Process Cherokee
So I decided to get a build thread going for my Cherokee. So far, I've had it about a year and a half. It's a 2001 Sport, with ABS and the Dana 35 . When I got it, it had 83,000 miles on it, a 2" Coil Spacer/Add a Leaf lift, and some 235/75-15 Blizzaks. It was babied by the PO...

I found some highway tires on stock rims for the summertime, but those tires didn't last long. I kept those for about 2 months, and let my money re-accumulate. The local tire shop sold me on a set of 30/9.5R15 Cooper AT-3's, and I can honestly say, they're really really good AT tires!

And that was pretty much the extent of my modifications for about a year. I certainly tested the Jeep out, that's for sure!

I threw in some headlights that I got off of eBay before leaving for college, and they work really good for the small price I paid.
I think I made the right college choice hahahaha

I accidentally came across a sweet deal on Craigslist, and had to get it. It's the OR-Fab Winch-Style bumper, and once again, I could not be happier. It's pretty lightweight, and didn't kill my gas mileage. Hopefully this will help when I hit a deer going 70mph in the dark...

And now, about all I have time and money for is planning my build hahaha
Things I want to do:
-RE 3.5" Superflex with Leaf packs, and Bilstein 5100 shocks (as recommended by SeriousOffroadProducts!!!!)
-Rugged Ridge SYE
-Swap in a 29 spline 8.25
-Detours Tailbone
-Buschwacker Flat flares
-33" highway AT's (like a set of Hankook Dynapros or Falken Wildpeaks)
-4.56 Gears
-And numerous little things along the way

Thanks! The wider shots are from my GoPro Hero 2, and the regular looking shots are from my mom's Canon EOS.
I love this color too! It looks better when the side moldings are gone.
Hold on to your seats ladies and gentlemen, this build is going to be riveting....

Went for a drive this weekend, and the snow was pretty deep for October. I was planning on doing Elwood Pass, but the rock ledges mixed with a foot of snow was a big no no.

On day 2, I went for a short drive, which ended up being shorter than planned. I was sitting in front of this muddy creek crossing when my Jeep just died(???). It seemed like the year-old CPS had quit....and sure enough, the engine cooled off, and it fired right up. I immediately went to the parts store and got a new CPS (thank god for lifetime warranty!), and spent the rest of the day trying to cram my arm between the body and the transmission. It actually threw some codes (last time the CPS was replaced, it didn't) that said cylinders 3 and 4 were misfiring. That wasn't the case because the engine ran as smooth as ever and I got 21mpg driving home. I swear, the CPS is the WORST sensor to replace on a Cherokee. Any idea why the CPS went bad after about a year and a half?

Looks like a good start man. Im up at UNC greeley which means youre smarter than me. I wish I had access to trails and such like you do down there. I just have dirt roads and everything else is washed out from the floods. Keep up the good work!

Thanks man! I'm actually from the San Luis valley, I have no idea where to wheel around Golden. And as far as school goes, let's just say that I've had to repeat my fair share of classes O.o

Finally, an update! I got some 784 injectors in the mail yesterday. I'll throw them in tomorrow, and hopefully see a benefit. I already get about 21mpg highway, maybe it'll be a hybrid when I'm done!
