As we all know, nothing ever goes as planned. I wasnt able to do her ball joints yet because my axle seal blew. I pretty much have mine squared away now so I should be able to get back to hers. If all goes well, I should be able to pick up the ball joint press tool and bang out her ball joints this weekend.
And if theres time, Ill pull the welder out and weld in the patch I made for the driver floor pan and address a few other rust spots I noticed underneath. Lovin this warm weather!

So I did the ball joints on Saturday..
Actually went a lot smoother than I thought.
On the drive home I noticed that it did drive a little better but still pulls to the right and now, the wobble that came on at 40-45 and wouldnt go away unless you slowed down comes and goes consistently. As in, I could hold 45 or 50 now and without me doing anything the wobble will slowly build up and then go away...build up and go away, without me moving my feet or steering wheel or anything.
Im starting to think it might be her Swampers, so Im going to try swapping our wheels and if it goes away with my wheels than she will just have to buy some new ones. Other than that, Im kind of out of ideas
And then I found this...
I was welding in a little patch on the driverside floor pan when I noticed a "little" rust crack on the uniframe. I thought, while Im here, let me patch that up quick...started poking around and once I got to the cross member I knew I was in for a bit of trouble.
Luckily one of the guys in my club is a mechanic who also builds race cars and said "thats no problem!". He wants me to strip the interior out and bring it to him with just a driver seat in it and then hes going to cut open the floors and drop 2x3 metal in from the top. Way more of a job than I could take on but Im glad hes around to help out. Should be happening within the next couple of weeks!

Also forgot to mention, we noticed that when you put the left blinker on, the odometer flashes with it. I did a quick search and it might have something to do with the trailer light harness but we have bigger fish to fry before that fix

I got the OK to start stripping the interior apart! He said that he can get it in the shop next week. My birthday is this weekend but I may start taking it apart tonight and depending on how everything comes apart, continue tomorrow

That makes 3 of us lol well frame rails, not floors. The floors actually werent too bad
Thanks! I dont know about where you are but it was kind of hard to find a decent one around here for a good price. Thought we had a semi-clean one here but oh well, now itll be beefier!
Behind the scenes, I did my one piece passenger axle shaft swap
and needed to get my front driveshaft balanced. The drive shaft place called me up and said it was FUBAR. Besides being bent, this is what I found after taking it apart
The splines actually split!
So I ordered a used one off ebay and got it yesterday. After rebuilding it since the slip end was all messed up, Im good to go!
Pretty much what that means is I didnt do anything to the cherokee last night lol we're going to start Sunday since we're supposed to have people over for a birthday thing tomorrow

Got to stripping the interior!
I was actually surprised how clean it was. I was expecting a lot more rust/rot but the only bad section is the driver floor pan. Everything came out with no problems too, didnt break any bolts and had it all apart in maybe half an hour. So it should be going in for surgery this week sometime
We went for a quick trail ride for my birthday and she was so sad that she couldnt bring her Jeep but it was still a good time

Im gonna guess you had a lot of insulation on the carpet, Id suggest tearing it off at the minimum, or bedline the floor and leave the carpet out, like I plan on doing. That insulation is nothing but a sponge.

Just the normal amount lol I was really surprised to see how clean it was though. The driver side was a little dirty/soggy but the passenger side was white and dry. But yeah, we were planning on removing the carpet anyways due to all the mud and water we go through for that reason

Brought the cherokee to my friends garage to check out the frame and he said it doesn't look as bad as he thought. Rather than drop box tubing in from the top, hes going to cut out the rust, patch that area and burn in some frame stiffeners. Thinking ruff stuff so stiffeners, any opinions in those?
Also, we swapped wheels and I was able to take the cherokee on the highway up to 70mph with no wobbles! So glad we figured out the death wobble. Now we can hit some real OHV parks. Just have to buy more tires now
